Our Other Activities
We not only provide lots of on-water activity for everyone; we also do many other things to offer a better experience for everyone coming to our sessions.
At every session we have garden games available for use on the lawns or on the shore area if water levels allow - giant Jenja, stock darts and various other fun games.
We offer a range of worksheets for people to work through - colouring-in sheets, knot tying practice, replica boat building, and so on.
We also, where suitable, have the full RYA scheme workbooks to help candidates to gain certification in various aspects of sailing or powerboating by working through them with our instructors.
We run a prize tombola at every session, offering people the chance to win some great prizes whilst helping us to raise funds for the charity.
At two sessions each season we hold a BBQ alongside the session, where families taking part in the session and the volunteers can have some great food and socialise at the same time.
Nature
We have a nature area where you can take yourself away from the hubbub and relax in its natural beauty. You can take in the great views across the reservoir from the viewing benches, and you can check out our massive bug house, as well as bird and bat boxes. See what you can spot!
Annual Achievements
The end of the season is a time to celebrate everyone’s year and achievements. We hold our Achievements Evening in November at the boat club each year. It's a free fun event, in which we give out certificates to all, and have quizzes and games. There's lots of great food, there's our famous Boat Race, and there's also our spectacular Star Raffle, which always has amazing prizes to be won!
Other Charities
We also support other charities. Each year we get involved with Ashby Castle Rotary Club's Santa Sleigh Collections. Several teams of our volunteers go out on the streets with the Santa sleigh!
