Powerboating is provided primarily for reasons of safety on the water.
However, because of the many people attending and their possible lack of sailing experience, we use powerboats to show our visitors around the lake, allowing them to experience being afloat. We offer this as a confidence builder ahead of perhaps sailing, a sensory experience and something that the family can do together.
We can accommodate wheelchair users on certain powerboats if our volunteers can manage to safely board those individuals. We do have a hoist that can be used where suitable for the individual.
We also use our powerboats to give those who are unable to take part in sailing activities a chance to go afloat for a sensory experience. They'll feel the motion and movement of the boat; feel the wind against their faces; feel water splashing onto their hands or faces; and they'll hear the sounds of the engine, and the sound of the boat cutting through the water.
