Volunteering with Sailability
Staunton Harold Sailability Trust (SHST) is a registered charity, No: 1170771.
SHST provides a wide range of sailing and waterborne opportunities for sailors and non-sailors of all ages with physical, sensory or learning disabilities, or for those who are managing long term illness.
We rely on volunteers to provide our services and to run our sessions. We are always keen to welcome new volunteers. We don’t ask you to do any more than you are willing or able to do. If you can only commit to one session per year then please do - it would be greatly appreciated!
New helpers are always extremely welcome and are a vitally important asset to our organisation.
We hope you will enjoy your time with us and will continue to support our activity throughout the season once you have been with us.
People can become involved in many different ways, including hands-on support at Staunton Harold and other venues; fundraising activities; marketing; and as trustees to help steer the organisation.
We need a diverse group of volunteers to make our project a success: both sailors and shore-based helpers. Experienced sailors can sail with our less able sailors and those requiring assistance, whilst shore-based volunteers can help on the reception desk with meeting and greeting, and with boat-rigging and helping sailors in and out of the boats.
We have many on-shore activities that we need people to help organise and run. It doesn't matter if you know nothing about sailing when you join; you may well end up learning quite a lot over your time with us!
Additional help is often required at social functions and with fundraising activities. Training can be given in all areas and new volunteers can develop their skills throughout the season. We value them all.
